Overview

Nova Mounting designs and manufactures solar racking and mounting systems for installers and distributors. The company started in Australia and has since expanded into Europe, New Zealand, and Bosnia, with a European warehouse based in Belgium serving the broader EU market.

When Nova Mounting decided to take their international growth seriously, they needed a website that could actually support it. That's where First Optimise came in.

The Challenge

Nova Mounting had a Wix website that wasn't doing much for them. People searching for their brand name weren't finding them, and people searching for solar mounting products didn't know they existed. The product pages that did exist read more like spec sheets than sales pages, technically accurate but not written to give installers and distributors the confidence to get in touch.

Organic traffic was negligible, the site wasn't generating enquiries, and the business was about to expand into new countries with no digital presence to support it.

The Key Issues:

  • The site barely ranked for anything, including their own brand name.

  • Almost no non-branded organic traffic, meaning potential customers searching for solar mounting products weren't finding them.

  • Page structure was flat, with no depth to the architecture and almost no keyword coverage.

  • Content was thin across the board, lacking the detail installers and distributors need to make decisions.

  • The site wasn't fully responsive, with a rough experience on mobile.

  • No content strategy, no blog, and no way to capture informational search intent.

  • The site only served one market (Australia), with no infrastructure for international expansion.

  • Inbound leads from the website were effectively zero.

The Strategy

Nova Mounting came to us wanting a website. We gave them something more than that. Before writing a single line of copy or designing a page, we ran a deep keyword study across their product categories and analysed how competitors were positioning themselves. Every competitor talked about durability or range, but nobody was owning efficiency.

We brought that finding to Nova Mounting, and through our strategy process, helped them refine their positioning into something they now carry across everything they do. That clarity shaped the entire website, from the site architecture to the page copy to how they present themselves in four different countries today.

  • Keyword-Led Information Architecture

We mapped the entire site structure to keyword clusters. The old Wix site was flat. The new architecture breaks mounting systems into roof, ground, carport, cable tray, and walkway categories, with roof mounts split further by type and material. Every page exists because the search data justified it.

  • Competitive Positioning

The "most efficient solar mounting system" angle runs through every page, giving Nova Mounting a distinct voice in a market where competitors all sound the same.

  • SEO-First Copywriting

Every page was written from scratch using the client's product brochures and technical specs. Copy speaks to both installers looking for compatibility details and buyers who need confidence before requesting a quote.

  • Multi-Country Rollout

We built separate site versions for Australia, the EU, New Zealand, and Bosnia, each with its own URL structure, localised content, and hreflang setup. Proper multi-country architecture, not a language toggle.

  • Ongoing Content Strategy

With the core site ranking, we added blog content targeting informational keywords earlier in the research phase, building topical authority and feeding traffic back to product pages.

The Result

Before the rebuild, almost all of Nova Mounting's traffic came from people who already knew the brand. Now, the site is pulling in non-branded search traffic from installers and distributors searching for solar mounting products and finding Nova Mounting for the first time. That shift is happening across four countries, with the site generating targeted enquiries every month from a channel that previously contributed nothing.

  • Organic search traffic increased by 1,067%

  • Total website sessions grew by 1,119%

  • Inclusion in Google AI-powered search results, increasing visibility in AI-powered search results

  • 80% of search queries driving traffic are non-branded (from Google Search Console), meaning most visitors are discovering Nova Mounting for the first time

  • The website expanded from a single Australian site to four country-specific versions (Australia, EU, New Zealand, Bosnia)

  • Inbound enquiries went from effectively zero to a consistent monthly flow of distributor and installer leads
